Posted June 26, 2009: I painted this on the night of the US Presidential Election – as the results were coming in. I began by pouring the dregs of my coffee (an Arabian blend) without intention: I then added colour. The figure(s) which emerged was not premeditated.

Howling at the Moon is a lyric I’ve been carrying around for a year or so but it was begun in 2004 when I was living in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia, and quite systematically reading spiritual texts and seeking teachings from masters of different spiritual and religious systems, hoping to find the spiritual unity which was the great quest of kabir (see link to the right). I finished the song yesterday (6th June) on the balcony of the Inn on the Green and worked out a tune strumming pattern around CDCDGBFlat… works well with a band.

On the whole I think Obama is handling the potenially totally destructive forces of radical Islam and bellicose Zion with admirable skill. American-led  killing in Afghanistan-Pakistan and Israeli-US-UK arms trading in the Middle East are massive crimes against humanity and as President of the USA he is responsible – so the Obama phenominon is a double-headed beast. Perhaps that is why Dylan has said that he thinks Obama will end up a broken man. These religious-tribal border-wars are unwinable by top-down Masters of  War and out of control Generals. It is an arms-trading mindset operating outside the language of peace. (US spent £378 billion this finaincial year according to today’s Daily Mail, Tuesday, June 9, 2009). Everyone is sick of the lies and rhetoric. Cherie Blair on Radio 2 on Friday (5th June) night was nausiating – no mention of IRAQ,  only cuddly Tony and hints of domestic fury and bedroom shuffles. Blair remains an extremely dangerous war criminal and the highest paid public speaker in the world, currently meddling with the constitution, big time.
