a week of sunshine and banjos

I was given this vintage English 5 string banjo as I was busking with local blues harmonica hero, Robert Waugh, in Cambridge yesterday. Luke took the photo (and gave me the banjo) – Luke is a bluegrass-loving Canadian academic (Climate change specialist at the University) who claims he has just too many banjos. Thanks Luke – love it – maker? Just an ‘H’ carved on the back. Probably about 100 years old.

Below at rehearsal with Red Velvet for Cambridge Folk Festival. The banjo belongs to Les (pictured left) after I told him I didn’t want thrash my Gibson! Fara on fiddle and Deirdre who sings (and provided the gorgeous Irish food).
